Advanced lighting control system for workshops TBP
Company
Adentech develops and integrates technological solutions for complex industrial environments. In this project, the application environment was the Flat Block Workshops (TBP) at the Navantia shipyards.
The client needed a solution that would allow for centralized and flexible management of all the workshop lighting, ensuring precise control by zone, adaptability to different work scenarios, and intuitive operation for operators.
The objective was to have a robust, automated, and easily configurable lighting control system that was fully integrated into its industrial control architecture.
Challenge
Design and implement a complete lighting control system based on the DALI protocol, fully integrated with industrial PLC and an HMI screen, allowing all lighting circuits in the TBP workshops to be managed, monitored, and adjusted from a single control point.
The solution had to be stable, intuitive for the operator, suitable for demanding industrial environments, and prepared for future operational changes, expansions, or reorganization of work areas within the workshop.
Problem
- Decentralized lighting management
Workshop lighting was managed in an inflexible manner, without centralized supervision or detailed control by zone or operating scenario. - Lack of integration with industrial systems
There was no direct communication between the lighting and the PLC-based industrial automation systems used in the shipyard environment. - Absence of an intuitive control interface
Operators did not have an HMI screen that allowed them to view the lighting status or modify parameters quickly and safely. - Lower energy and operational efficiency
The lack of programming and dynamic control made it difficult to optimize energy consumption and adapt the lighting to the actual needs of each phase of the production process.
Solution
How we do it?
A complete DALI lighting control system was developed and integrated, connected to the workshop automation architecture via PLC and managed from a customized HMI screen, designed specifically for the TBP environment.
- Full control via DALI protocol
Implementation of the DALI protocol for individual and group management of all workshop lighting, allowing precise dimming, switching on and off, and creation of lighting scenarios according to activity. - Advanced PLC programming
Development of PLC control logic to coordinate lighting with the different operating states of the TBP workshop and enable reliable and repeatable automation. - Customized HMI interface
Design and programming of an intuitive HMI screen that displays the lighting status, allows manual control by zone, and facilitates the configuration of scenarios and operational settings. - Full integration into the customer's system
The solution was fully integrated into the existing industrial infrastructure of Adentech and the shipyard, ensuring compatibility, stability, and ease of maintenance. - Ready for scalability and future changes
The system was prepared for workshop expansions, work area modifications, or new operating logic without the need for complex redesigns.
Results
- Centralized and precise control of all lighting in TBP workshops
- Significant improvement in the shipyard's energy efficiency
- More intuitive operation via industrial HMI screen
- Reduction in manual interventions and operational errors
- Solid integration with existing PLCs and industrial systems
- Robust, flexible platform ready for future evolution
