Advanced SCADA system for digitization and monitoring of fluids and energy at Navantia
Company
Navantia is an international leader in the design and construction of naval platforms and complex industrial systems.
Within the framework of its industrial facilities, it needed an advanced solution that would allow for the centralized control, digitization, and monitoring of gas plants and electrical transformer stations.
The objective was to have a unified SCADA system, integrated with PLC, that would offer complete visibility of the status of the systems, alarms, historical data, and the ability to take immediate action.
Challenge
Design and implement a fluid and energy SCADA system capable of integrating multiple industrial plants, providing real-time monitoring, remote control, and a scalable architecture.
The solution had to be highly reliable, secure, and aligned with Navantia's industrial standards, while also allowing for future expansions and new control points.
Problem
- Lack of centralized monitoring
Gas stations and transformers did not have a single platform to consolidate statuses, alarms, and critical variables. - Limited process digitization
The absence of an advanced SCADA system hindered historical analysis, traceability, and data-driven decision-making. - Incomplete integration with PLC
Existing systems were not fully integrated with a robust and standardized industrial supervision layer. - Operational risk
Late detection of incidents could affect the safety, availability, and continuity of industrial processes.
Solution
How we do it?
A fluid and energy SCADA system was developed and integrated, based on advanced PLC programming and supervision using WinCC OA, fully adapted to Navantia's industrial infrastructure.
- Control and monitoring of gas plants
Real-time supervision of pressures, flow rates, operating statuses, and critical alarms in industrial gas plants. - Monitoring of electrical transformer stations
Continuous visualization of the electrical status, key parameters, alarms, and operating conditions of transformer stations. - Advanced PLC programming
Development of control logic to ensure reliable automation, operational safety, and robust communication with SCADA. - Customized SCADA WinCC OA
Design of intuitive graphic screens for operators, with real-time statuses, trends, histories, alarms, and events. - Full integration into the customer's architecture
The system was fully integrated into Navantia's industrial environments, meeting safety, reliability, and maintenance standards.
Results
- Centralized control of gas plants and electrical transformers
- Complete digitization of critical industrial processes
- Real-time monitoring with SCADA WinCC OA
- Greater security and responsiveness to incidents
- Solid integration with PLCs and existing industrial systems
- Robust, scalable platform ready for future evolution
