Supply and installation of a 36-ton crane trolley for a naval industrial workshop

instalacion carro grua 36 toneladas en navantia - surcontrol

Company

Navantia is an international leader in shipbuilding and the development of advanced industrial infrastructure for the defense sector.

At its center in Puerto Real, it needed to renovate and reinforce its heavy-load handling capabilities for critical manufacturing and assembly operations.

The objective was to have a brand new, reliable, high-capacity (36-ton) crane trolley that met the demanding safety and operating standards of the naval environment, covering the entire project cycle: from manufacturing to commissioning.

Challenge

Design, supply, and install a 36-ton crane trolley with magnetic pad, including dismantling the existing system and fully integrating the new equipment into the workshop, ensuring safety, precision of movement, and operational continuity.

The solution had to comply with the structural, mechanical, and regulatory requirements of Navantia's industrial environment, minimizing downtime and risks during installation.

Problem

  • Limited handling capacity:
The previous system did not offer the capacity or reliability needed to handle heavy loads safely.
  • Operational and safety risks:
Obsolete equipment increased the risk during critical maneuvers within the workshop.
  • Need for comprehensive replacement:
A complete supply was required, from manufacturing to commissioning, without dependence on third parties.
  • Impact on industrial planning:
A prolonged or poorly coordinated installation could affect workshop production.

Solution

How we do it?

A turnkey project was carried out for the complete supply of the 36-ton crane trolley, covering all phases: engineering, manufacturing, dismantling, installation, and commissioning.

  • Dismantling of the existing system
Controlled removal of the previous crane trolley, ensuring the safety of the environment and personnel.
  • Manufacture and supply of the crane trolley
Design and manufacture of a 36-ton crane trolley, adapted to the specific needs of the shipyard.
  • Integration of magnetic cushion
Incorporation of a magnetic cushion system for the safe and precise handling of large metal loads.
  • Complete installation and connection
Mechanical assembly, adjustments, and connection of the new crane trolley in the Previa Workshop.
  • Commissioning and operational testing
Complete operational verification, load testing, and final validation for entry into service.

Results

  • Increased lifting capacity up to 36 tons
  • Safer and more precise load handling using magnetic pads
  • Significant improvement in workshop operational reliability
  • Reduced risks in critical maneuvers
  • Project executed from start to finish: manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
  • Robust infrastructure designed for intensive industrial use
