As part of its R&D innovation line, the company created its own autonomous and teleoperated flight system for UAVs, combining real-time remote control with intelligent capabilities for safe and precise aerial operations.

Challenge

To design a system capable of piloting a UAV both autonomously and via joystick teleoperation, integrating real-time video transmission while ensuring flight stability, precision, and safety.

Problem

  • Lack of real-time vision: The absence of live video delayed decision-making and reduced remote pilot accuracy.
  • Limited manual control: Traditional radio-control systems did not allow automation or advanced maneuvering capabilities.
  • Unsafe operations: Without intelligent assistance, flight stability depended entirely on the operator’s skill.
  • No hybrid operation capability: There was no mixed teleoperated/autonomous mode enabling seamless transitions and continuous control.

Solution

How we do it?

We developed a hybrid UAV flight system fully designed by Surcontrol.

  • Joystick teleoperated control: The operator pilots the UAV from the ground with digitally assisted precise movements.
  • Intelligent autonomous flight: The system executes routes, maintains altitude, corrects deviations, and automatically manages flight stability.
  • Real-time remote vision: An integrated camera streams live video, providing full visual control of the operation.
