Implementation of the SICP system on BAM ships of the Spanish Navy
Cliente
Navantia is a Spanish state-owned company and a leader in the design and construction of military and civilian naval vessels, responsible for the Maritime Action Vessels (BAM) commissioned for the Spanish Navy.
These vessels stand out for their high patrol capability, operational versatility, and advanced platform control and monitoring technology.
Reto
Ensure the proper commissioning and validation of the Integrated Platform Control System (IPCS) on BAM vessels, guaranteeing that both platform monitoring and control systems operated in a robust, reliable manner and in full compliance with the demanding standards of the Spanish Navy.
Problema
The IPCS is a critical system that centralizes control and supervision of the ship’s platform, integrating multiple subsystems within a complex client/server architecture, with redundant VLAN networks and strict requirements for availability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
Any error during commissioning could compromise the vessel’s operability, crew safety, or the proper management of critical situations.
Solución
¿Cómo lo hacemos?
Surcontrol supported Navantia in San Fernando during the testing and commissioning phases of the IPCS on BAM vessels, actively collaborating in:
- Execution of functional monitoring and control tests of the IPCS.
- Verification of the correct operation of mimics, operator interfaces, and information flows.
- Validation of the integration of the IPCS with the ship’s platform systems.
- Support in tests related to decision-making, alarm management, and supervision of critical states.
- Validation of system operability across different IPCS stations and its availability throughout the vessel.
- Collaboration with Navantia’s team to detect, analyze, and resolve issues during testing.
Resultados
- Successful commissioning of the IPCS on BAM vessels.
- Fully operational and validated monitoring and control system.
- Proper centralization of platform information for the ship’s crew.
